One would have been enough to satisfy the desires of any father, one would have been enough to fill my heart with infinite gratitude, one would have been enough to bring my life more joy than I had ever thought possible, I was given two…
To my twin blessings-
Your mother and I, being the naturalists that we are had no idea there were two of you. After Naia was born the midwife’s assistant told your mother the other thing she was feeling inside her was the placenta. Your mothers composed advice to her was “placentas don’t have elbows.”
And then there were two of you. We were all rushed to the hospital and I had to focus on every detail of your care to preserve the integrity of your potential. After nearly 48 hours awake I could rest knowing that my wishes for you would be granted. You both were in the hospital for ten days and your mother and I could not wait to get you home to shield you from the influences of the American medical model. You were both so beautiful and perfect, every doctor and nurse commented on how amazing and superior your progress was. Of course this came as no surprise to your mother and I. You both had your first chiropractic adjustment at an hour old, and I could feel Naia’s atlas move under my pinky finger.
When you are both older I will tell you the story of my oppression as a wellness based chiropractor, and why at the time of your birth your daddy was waiting tables in San Francisco. Your mother and I are moving you to live in Ireland and I have spent the last week there securing a better future for you.
Your mother and I are raising you in a very unique way. We do not acquiesce to the conventional or popular pseudo-science propaganda that most of America blindly follows. We cannot ignore the wisdom we have sought and found just to make other people feel more comfortable about the way they choose to live. We know that we will give you a better start than just about anyone on the planet.
Just like your sister Jana, you have been raised with regular chiropractic adjustments and you have been raised in the vegan lifestyle. Your mother only gained 28 pounds in her pregnancy with you, and you were both well ahead of average weight at birth. Your mother and I like to think of our selves as the “myth-busters.”
I look forward to the day when you can understand all the choices that we made for you, It has taken me 40 years to free myself from most of what I was lead to believe and to become truly objective in my thought process. It is my deepest yearning that when you are old enough to make your own decisions, that you have adopted the philosophies that your mother and I have fought so hard for to instill in you through our own example.
There is a path that leads to true joy and happiness and you will come to realize someday that this is your natural state. When we look at you now you are both blank slates, pure expressions of universal intelligence personified. You are both so naturally full of joy as long as you are fed and your diapers are clean.
Everything we want for you is not really that important. What is most important is how you will want your life to be and the process you will follow to manifest the things you want in your lives.
The qualities you can always expect from your mother and I will be complete openness and honesty, integrity, and a tremendous amount of love. We hope to receive the same from you in return. We will do everything in our power to help you get the most out of your life, and the deep love and respect we have for each other will be an example for you of what is possible in relationship.
Know that your freedom, true freedom only comes when you learn how to think for yourself and believe in your own ideals no matter how overwhelming the opposition may seem. Someone once said, “The journey is more rewarding than the destination.” I would also say that when you fight for what you know is right; you are living one of the highest ideals.
So Naia Aum and Ananda Aum know how much your mother and I have fought for what we believe in. Also know that LOVE is the highest ideal and it is what you were created from.
